In most games they try to provide some form of a safe haven. A place where BIG BAD MEANIES can't hurt those either too 'young' or too carbearish to engage in meaningful contact sports. In Anchary Online they solved it by pumping in a gas into the air that subdued the populance. In
Eve Online they inplemented CONCORD to kill the killers in high sec space. In WAR, they turn you into chickens. In Alpha Centari, they offer Nerve Stapling.

In BA, we call this particular function leadership.

As for why this one was, perhaps it a social perservation mechicnism; not sure if it was mean spirited or fun spirited the masses, quickly and by unspoken cooperation, siezes on the diversion? Or perhaps it just a mesure of how 'adult' and 'mature' we've become.

For my two cents, it would seem to me the only sure result to come from a fear of conflict would be an absence of trust. I personally welcome this as we, that is BA, have operated for far too long in a spirit of good will and harmony; how can Evil and desintion flurish within a group like that?
